Lotus bloom~¦~to Japan with love~¦~

Lotus bloom~¦~to Japan with love~¦~

I took this photo at the Adelaide Botanical Gardens a few weeks ago and when I came across it today, it reminded me of Japan....so I thought I would dedicate it to them.
¦Japan~may you bloom again real soon¦

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the Tsunami...

I believe that it's in times like these that we get to see just how beautiful the human SPIRIT can be...the world forgets the fighting and bands together in the most magical way...we all become one, in and amazing quest to provide help in every way we can...

I wrote the poem below for the Tsunami disaster of 2004...

I remember watching a film clip of people on the beach looking in awe at this huge wave coming in, they all seemed hypnotized by it and couldn't move and then suddenly, all hell broke loose, It was the most touching thing I'd ever seen...
My heart goes out to all victims of disasters across the world...

THE TSUNAMI

They stood there watching
As a freakish wave came in
It came with so much force
Such a thing they'd never seen

They watched with curiosity
As if it were a phenomenon
They then knew of the danger
As someone yelled at them to run

Never suspecting what was to come
A tragedy that was to unfold
One that would unite the world
In a quest to supply help, untold

It is at times like these
As tragic as they really are
That the best comes out of everyone
Those so near and those so far

We weep for those who lost their lives
We pray for these but also pray
For those who work so tirelessly
To help them survive day by day
nc

R.I.P. all those who lost their lives
in this and all disasters~¦~

Flower Friend

Flower Friend

Travus and I went to the hospital to visit my Father-in-law.

I've seen quite a few unique vending machines in Japan, and this one definitely is near the top of the coolest/convenient. Travus already had a bag of goodies/gifts to give to Grandpa, so I had a graceful option to not come empty handed thanks to my "Flower Friend" ;-)

A Flower Lover's Guide to Tokyo: 40 Walks for All Seasons

Japanese sensitivity to seasons and nature is inextricably linked to their love for flowers. This appreciation is well preserved in works of art and objects of daily life, from subject of mural paintings to motif on combs.

Although the primary goal of this guidebook is to help the reader get to the flower sites, it is designed also to be an introduction to the colorful tapestry of Japanese culture and history that is interwoven with myths, literature, arts, anecdotes and living flowers. While seeing irises in full bloom is rewarding by itself, the experience will be enriched by knowing why a zigzag bridge is almost always there and by recognizing iris designs in arts and crafts. Vigorous flowering of old wisteria trees remind us of the wisteria boys myth, and camellia leaves reflecting the afternoon sun are a convincing explanation of the flower's Japanese name meaning "glossy leaves."

The book presents a total of 40 walking routes, divided into 15 sections, each devoted to one flower traditionally appreciated in Japan: cherry blossoms, irises, azaleas, chrysanthemums, etc. Each section is introduced by an essay that discusses that flower's place in Japanese culture, history and aesthetics; and the book includes appealing photos and traditional colored woodcut prints of photos.
